THANK YOU!

Salisbury, MD:  Election results in Maryland showed positive results for Maryland Libertarians. Muir Boda, the Libertarian candidate for Congress in Maryland’s 1st District received nearly 12,000 votes at 3.8%.  Even more exciting the Libertarian Candidate for President, Governor Gary Johnson, received over 21,000 votes and 1.1% of the vote. This secures ballot access for the Libertarian Party in Maryland through 2016, which will save Maryland Taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars.

“I am so grateful for the support of my family and friends through this election”, Muir Boda stated, “I also wish to thank the more than 11,600 Marylanders that cast their vote for me. I am humbled and honored by every sacred vote cast for me.”

“This campaign was about spreading the message of Liberty and to offer voters an alternative to the two major political parties,” Boda continues, “I also want to thank all Libertarians that ran in Maryland and for continually carrying the message peace, free markets and civil liberties to voters in Maryland.

Governor Gary Johnson has performed tremendously well nation wide and I appreciate the support and mentoring the Johnson Campaign has provided to my campaign and those around the country. I am proud and honored to have represented the Libertarian Party in the 1st District and much appreciative for the groundwork laid by Dr. Richard Davis in the previous two elections here in the 1st District.

This is just the beginning. We have much work to do and it is very important work that must be done. We must continue to be a voice for Individual LibertyPeace and Free Markets in a political environment that is negative, divisive and corrupt. I will do all I can to continue to be one of those voices and I call on all of those who believe in those and even in some of those ideas to stand with me and fight for and defend the principles our nation was founded upon.”

What if?

Muir Boda – Libertarian Candidate for Congress in Maryland’s 1st District

What if Congress was bought and sold by corporate interests?

What if tax loopholes and regulatory exemptions were bought and sold in the halls of Congress?

What if both major political parties have become so ineffective at addressing the issues of the day?

What if the Constitution was actually designed to restrict Government but we continue to elect people to Congress and the Presidency who ignore it?

What if our use of Drones kill more civilians than terrorists and creates more enemies for America?

What if Peace is cheaper than war? What if we had leaders that listened to and adhered to the guidance of our founders such as George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and James Madison.

What if we elected people to Congress who actually believe our Government should be constrained inside the Constitution? What if those choices are actually on the ballot?

What if the private sector was freed from government regulations and an oppressive tax system? What if that actually created tens of millions of new jobs and made our manufacturing sector competitive with the rest of the world?

What if the 1st District of Maryland had someone else other than Andy Harris representing them in Congress who supports Civil Liberties? What if we had a Congressman that would have vehemently opposed the Patriot Act, The National Defense Authorization Act, CISPA and was not on the hook to special interest for hundreds of thousands of dollars?

What if that person was actually on the ballot? Well, I am.

Dismantling Political Labels

Muir Boda – Libertarian Candidate for Congress in Maryland’s 1st District

As we approach Election Day, I thought it appropriate to take a look at the definitions of the political philosophies that are prominent in our society.

Historically we have attributed the Democratic Party to the idea of liberalism. Here is how Webster defines liberalism.

lib·er·al·ism:

b : a theory in economics emphasizing individual freedom from restraint and usually based on free competition, the self-regulating market, and the gold standard

c : a political philosophy based on belief in progress, the essential goodness of the human race, and the autonomy of the individual and standing for the protection of political and civil liberties; specifically : such a philosophy that considers government as a crucial instrument for amelioration of social inequities (as those involving race, gender, or class).

On the other side of the aisle we have attributed conservatism to the Republican Party. Here is Webster’s definition of conservatism.

con·ser·va·tism:

a : disposition in politics to preserve what is established

b : a political philosophy based on tradition and social stability, stressing established institutions, and preferring gradual development to abrupt change; specifically : such a philosophy calling for lower taxes, limited government regulation of business and investing, a strong national defense, and individual financial responsibility for personal needs (as retirement income or health-care coverage)

What is interesting is watching how these two political parties govern. Democrats certainly do not represent a self-regulating free market or advocate for the gold standard. They also have not represented or defended civil liberties very well as we continue drone strikes, the implementation of the NDAA and the Patriot Act.

Republicans did little to preserve the liberties and freedoms that existed by supporting the abrupt change of government policy by passing the Patriot Act and NDAA. However, they are sticking to their conservative roots by preserving these atrocious policies.

Both political parties have essentially become conservative. They both continue working to preserve the failed policies of war, political corruption by rewarding their backers with bailouts and loopholes in regulations and taxes, as well the simple fact that neither party has worked to reduce the debt, the deficit and reform Social Security and Medicare.

Now let’s take a look at Webster’s definition of a Libertarian.

lib·er·tar·i·an

1: an advocate of the doctrine of free will

2a : a person who upholds the principles of individual liberty especially of thought and action

If true Libertarians are elected to Congress, I can assure you that authentic and original liberal policies will be pursued and once achieved a conservative mindset of preserving those achievements would be implemented.

End all the wars. Bring home our troops. Repeal the Patriot Act, the NDAA and stop the senseless and immoral drone strikes. Reform our tax system by eliminating the IRS, payroll taxes, corporate taxes, capital gains taxes and death taxes and replace it with 10%-15% consumption tax. Balance the federal budget with a 43% cut in government spending. Get the government out of the private sector and let self-regulation of the free market work. We need to return to the gold standard and end the Federal Reserve System.

We must become Liberal to become Conservative. To achieve freedom and prosperity, being Libertarian is the only answer.

So this election, join me and Be Libertarian.

Muir Boda Endorses Dr. Dean Ahmad for US Senate

++++++For Immediate Release+++++++

September 24, 2012

Dr. Dean Ahmad, Libertarian for US Senate in Maryland

Salisbury, MD: Muir Boda, the Libertarian Candidate for Congress in Maryland’s 1st District, is announcing his full support and endorsement of Dr. I. Dean Ahmad for US Senate in Maryland. In a statement, Boda had this to say about Dr. Ahmad:

“Dr. Dean Ahmad’s story is an incredible American Journey. Born on the open waters as his family was fleeing Palestine in 1948 to graduating from Harvard University 1970, then going on to earning a Doctorate in Astronomy and Astrophysics at the University of Arizona, is no small feat. Dr. Ahmad has been a Champion of the Liberty Movement for decades and has worked hard to bring the Libertarian Party to where it is today both here in Maryland and Nationally.

Dr. Ahmad’s lifetime of Liberty activism has garnered him a tremendous amount of respect and I can think of no one else who I could whole heartedly endorse to represent Maryland in the United States Senate than Dr. Dean Ahmad.”

Reject the two party system, Be Libertarian

With recent events in the 1st District Congressional race leaving only two legitimate candidates on the ballot, incumbent Republican Andy Harris, and myself, many feel that the race is over and that Congressman Harris is all but assured a second term. So confident he does not see the need to show up at scheduled forums, which he had previously agreed to attend.

Harris has more money, an entrenched political machine, staff, volunteers and consultants.

So you may ask, who do you have Boda? The answer is you.

Congressman Harris represents the PACs, the bundlers and the establishment and the over $1 Million he has raised for this campaign.

I represent you.

We have an opportunity in this election to send a message to the Establishment of both parties. You can tell them that you will no longer continue to waste your vote on deficit spending, increasing the National Debt, never ending wars and the constant growth of government involvement in our lives.

Join me and reject the two party system. For one election Be Libertarian with me. If after one term you feel I do not represent you, then you can always vote Harris or another Democrat back in office.

If I am elected and all of my concerns about debt, war, civil liberties and the need for reform in Medicare and social security are unfounded, what happens? Nothing.

If I am not elected and there is nobody to voice these concerns and they are true, what happens? Nothing good.

Muir Boda Press Release on Rep. Andy Harris withdrawing from the Debates

September 14, 2012

Muir Boda for Congress Press Release

+++++++++++++
Subject: Andy Harris refuses to debate Libertarian Muir Boda
+++++++++++++

Salisbury, MD: Today we received a message from Alan Girard, the Eastern Shore Director of the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, concerning the cancellation of the September 24th Candidate forum at Salisbury University. In an attached press release it mentioned that they had learned that Republican Congressman Andy Harris had “decided to pull out of all debates this election season”. This came in the wake of the voter fraud scandal that saw the resignation of Democrat Wendy Rosen.

Obviously Congressman Harris was looking for any opportunity to not have to face voters and Libertarian Muir Boda who stated, “After observing the withdrawal of Democrat Wendy Rosen from the race amid voter fraud allegations, I had not anticipated another action of disrespect to the voters in the 1st District. Congressman Harris’ actions are simply arrogant cowardice as he is obviously afraid to debate me.”

Boda continued, “Congressman Harris’ pulling out of all forums is a complete slap in the face to all the voters and the organizations that are taking their time to organize the forums by securing a place to have the forum, organizing resources to record the forums and to the those who desired to attend and to participate in the discussion of the future of our country.

Congressman Harris has many questions to answer. For instance, we need an explanation on why, as a so called fiscal conservative he would support adding another $1 Trillion to our national debt. Or where does he really stand on the TSA, the Patriot Act and the NDAA.”

The Boda Bomb

Muir Boda – The Anti-Deficit Candidate

The first “Boda Bomb” is dedicated to ending the unsustainable practice of deficit spending and baseline budgeting.

We aren’t looking to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars, that is actually way more paperwork than we wish to deal with. We don’t expect or desire maximum contributors, though we certainly are not opposed to it. We are just requesting individuals to consider contributing $5.00, $10.00 or even $25.00 to our cause on Wednesday, September 19, 2012.

To be a part of it, go here to Contribute.
