A Busy Week for the Boda Campaign

Muir Boda – The Anti-Deficit Candidate

It has been a busy week for Muir Boda the Libertarian Candidate in Maryland’s 1st District.

On Wednesday, Muir Boda taped an interview with Phil Tilghman on PAC 14’s “One on One” which will air the week of October 1st. Issues discussed were fiscal responsibility at the federal level, baseline budgeting, ending the War on Drugs and several other issues.

On Thursday Muir went to Chestertown, MD and taped an interview on WCTR (1530 AM and 102.3 FM in Kent and Queen Anne’s County) with Keith Thompson. The issues discussed were fiscal responsibility, ballot access and other issues. Once the interview is available on their Podcast, we will post it here.

From there Muir traveled to Harford Community Community College in Bel Air, Maryland for a District 1 and District 2  Congressional Candidate Forum hosted by The League of Women’s Voters. Write-In Candidate Democrat Dr. John LaFerla was present which allowed for District 1 Candidates to participate. Incumbent Republican Congressman Andy Harris failed to appear, as did Write-In Candidates Doug Rae and Michael Calpino. The forum was broadcast and recorded by the Harford Cable Network.

And finally, Muir completed an interview with about his campaign and the unique factor that he is on the ballot with just a Republican, as the Democrat has withdrawn. This will be featured on the LP Blog in the near future and will garner more attention to this race and his campaign. Not that it hasn’t already received that.

A good week and it is only going to get busier.

Muir Boda Endorses Dr. Dean Ahmad for US Senate

++++++For Immediate Release+++++++

September 24, 2012

Dr. Dean Ahmad, Libertarian for US Senate in Maryland

Salisbury, MD: Muir Boda, the Libertarian Candidate for Congress in Maryland’s 1st District, is announcing his full support and endorsement of Dr. I. Dean Ahmad for US Senate in Maryland. In a statement, Boda had this to say about Dr. Ahmad:

“Dr. Dean Ahmad’s story is an incredible American Journey. Born on the open waters as his family was fleeing Palestine in 1948 to graduating from Harvard University 1970, then going on to earning a Doctorate in Astronomy and Astrophysics at the University of Arizona, is no small feat. Dr. Ahmad has been a Champion of the Liberty Movement for decades and has worked hard to bring the Libertarian Party to where it is today both here in Maryland and Nationally.

Dr. Ahmad’s lifetime of Liberty activism has garnered him a tremendous amount of respect and I can think of no one else who I could whole heartedly endorse to represent Maryland in the United States Senate than Dr. Dean Ahmad.”

Reject the two party system, Be Libertarian

With recent events in the 1st District Congressional race leaving only two legitimate candidates on the ballot, incumbent Republican Andy Harris, and myself, many feel that the race is over and that Congressman Harris is all but assured a second term. So confident he does not see the need to show up at scheduled forums, which he had previously agreed to attend.

Harris has more money, an entrenched political machine, staff, volunteers and consultants.

So you may ask, who do you have Boda? The answer is you.

Congressman Harris represents the PACs, the bundlers and the establishment and the over $1 Million he has raised for this campaign.

I represent you.

We have an opportunity in this election to send a message to the Establishment of both parties. You can tell them that you will no longer continue to waste your vote on deficit spending, increasing the National Debt, never ending wars and the constant growth of government involvement in our lives.

Join me and reject the two party system. For one election Be Libertarian with me. If after one term you feel I do not represent you, then you can always vote Harris or another Democrat back in office.

If I am elected and all of my concerns about debt, war, civil liberties and the need for reform in Medicare and social security are unfounded, what happens? Nothing.

If I am not elected and there is nobody to voice these concerns and they are true, what happens? Nothing good.

Muir Boda on WMAR 2 in Baltimore

Here is my interview on WMAR Channale 2 in Baltimore. They do not have their political site up yet, but I found the video. The only correction they have me listed as District 2 under the video, I am actually in District 1.

Had a great time there and they were very gracious. These opportunities are hard to come by and I wanted to make the most of it.

Muir Boda Press Release on Rep. Andy Harris withdrawing from the Debates

Muir Boda for Congress Press Release

Subject: Andy Harris refuses to debate Libertarian Muir Boda

Salisbury, MD: Today we received a message from Alan Girard, the Eastern Shore Director of the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, concerning the cancellation of the September 24th Candidate forum at Salisbury University. In an attached press release it mentioned that they had learned that Republican Congressman Andy Harris had “decided to pull out of all debates this election season”. This came in the wake of the voter fraud scandal that saw the resignation of Democrat Wendy Rosen.

Obviously Congressman Harris was looking for any opportunity to not have to face voters and Libertarian Muir Boda who stated, “After observing the withdrawal of Democrat Wendy Rosen from the race amid voter fraud allegations, I had not anticipated another action of disrespect to the voters in the 1st District. Congressman Harris’ actions are simply arrogant cowardice as he is obviously afraid to debate me.”

Boda continued, “Congressman Harris’ pulling out of all forums is a complete slap in the face to all the voters and the organizations that are taking their time to organize the forums by securing a place to have the forum, organizing resources to record the forums and to the those who desired to attend and to participate in the discussion of the future of our country.

Congressman Harris has many questions to answer. For instance, we need an explanation on why, as a so called fiscal conservative he would support adding another $1 Trillion to our national debt. Or where does he really stand on the TSA, the Patriot Act and the NDAA.”

The Boda Bomb

Muir Boda – The Anti-Deficit Candidate

The first “Boda Bomb” is dedicated to ending the unsustainable practice of deficit spending and baseline budgeting.

We aren’t looking to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars, that is actually way more paperwork than we wish to deal with. We don’t expect or desire maximum contributors, though we certainly are not opposed to it. We are just requesting individuals to consider contributing $5.00, $10.00 or even $25.00 to our cause on Wednesday, September 19, 2012.

To be a part of it, go here to Contribute.

Muir Boda Press Release on Wendy Rosen’s Withdrawal from Congressional Race

September 10, 2012

Muir Boda – Libertarian Candidate for Congress in Maryland’s 1st District

Today it was announced that Democrat Wendy Rosen would be resigning as the Democrat’s Nominee in Maryland’s 1st Congressional District at the request of the Democratic Party of Maryland. It has been alleged that Mrs. Rosen was registered to vote in both Maryland and in the State of Florida and allegedly voted in both states during that period of time. If true, then there should be serious consequences for those actions.

The Libertarian Candidate in the 1st District, Muir Boda, stated, “I do wish to commend the Democratic Party of Maryland for taking proactive steps in this matter. The integrity of our elections is paramount in the democratic process and it is unfortunate that this was not discovered sooner. It is even more unfortunate that anyone would seek office at any level of government and have violated election laws in such a manner, if in fact the allegations are true.

Though not the way I was hoping to be able to provide an alternative to the two major parties, this does provide us with an opportunity. We will now be directly competing with incumbent Congressman Andy Harris for the votes of moderate Democrats, Libertarian Republicans and Independents. Though we may not agree with Democrats on some issues, I believe we can sway votes by focusing on ending the wars, defending civil liberties and educating many on the advantages of free markets in addressing many of the issues that government has failed at regulating.

Let’s End the Status Quo

Muir Boda – Libertarian Candidate for Congress in Maryland’s 1st District

After working for over 19 years at Walmart in a variety of positions at many different stores and working with over 1,000 different people from all over the world, I have learned a few things. Much of what I have learned I feel would carry over to the halls of Congress and Government in general.

If Walmart’s Three Basic Beliefs were applied in Congress and in government, our Country would not be in the shape it is in. Respect for the Individual, Striving for Excellence and Service to our Customers, in retrospect over the past few decades our government has failed at all three.

First, Respect for the Individual is one of the most important pillars of Walmart’s culture. It is simply what our company was founded on and it should be the basis of every interaction between individuals.

Imagine if members of Congress used respect when talking to, with and about their colleagues and the President.

Imagine for just a moment when expressing our ideas, we all used this principal.

Imagine for just a moment if this was the approach we used when negotiating or dealing with other nations.
