Muir Boda – Libertarian Candidate for Congress in Maryland’s 1st District

Listen:Campaign Statement

Welcome and thank you for visiting our Campaign website.

A long shot, yes. However, our purpose for standing up and running for Congress in the 1st District of Maryland is quite simple: The message of Individual Liberty, personal freedom and restoring our Nation’s Honor must be a viable choice for voters. We offer that.

We don’t anticipate raising hundreds of thousands of dollars and having entrenched political machines robo-calling and printing out wasteful mailers to voters which represent half truths and empty promises (if we send one out it will be a targeted, concise message). We actually believe that is part of the problem with modern politics in America. The gotcha politics of personal destruction has become a disgrace and the two major parties, lobbyists and special interest have spent trillions of dollars in the process.

Yet, many people are still looking to Washington and the two major political parties to solve all of our problems, actually problems the two major parties have created. They have bankrupt our national wealth by devaluing our currency, spending astronomical amounts of money on wars, nation building and a myriad of wasteful programs through a budget process that is broken. All of this set up on a tax and regulatory system that is oppressive and has destroyed job creation in our country by forcing businesses overseas.

They have violated the Constitution over and over by committing acts of war without declaration, passing laws that disregard due process and with lame attempts at justifying there actions in the name of security and good intentions.

We can continue to elect people from the two major parties who have disregarded our Constitution by creating laws and giving our government powers not authorized by the Constitution. We can continue trusting the same group of people to fix our issues of debt and oppression that created the problems. We can continue electing people who have allowed money and special interest to control their decisions and attack good people all for political expediency.

The other choice is to begin considering candidates who are not of the two major parties. We can then truly change direction and elect people who respect the Constitution and believe that decentralizing the power of Washington is of utmost importance. Individual Liberty and Personal Freedom must be a priority.

If elected I would focus on legislation that would repeal or eliminate the following:

• The National Defense Authorization Act

• The Patriot Act

• The TSA – I support privatizing airport security.

• Eliminating duplicated services where most States already provide such a service and specifically analyze the role of each Federal Government Agency to determine it’s Constitutional role and necessity.

• Vote to repeal Obamacare. I will oppose any program that is administered by the Federal Government for managing healthcare.

• End the War drugs and allow states to determine what is legal and what is not.

• End all Foreign Aid. Once our fiscal house is in order and we have eliminated our budget deficit and $16 Trillion Dollar Debt, then we may consider loans to other nations that must be paid back.

Here is my stance on other issues:

• I would oppose any congressional authorization of military action where a declaration of war has not been made.

• I oppose any Federal Legislation that attempts to define what is or what is not marriage. I oppose the Defense of Marriage Act and believe it should be repealed. I oppose any legislation that would legalize Same Sex Marriage. Government has no role in marriage.

• I would continue Congressman Ron Paul’s campaign of auditing and ultimately ending the Federal Reserve.

• I would fight to create a sound currency by restoring gold and silver as legal tender.

• I support ending the current tax system, eliminating the IRS and moving to a simpler and more straight forward tax by proposing one of three models. The Flat Tax, a National Sales Tax or a States Right Tax.

• Currently I would eliminate the Death Tax and eliminate taxes on tips for service employees.

• I oppose any Federal bailout for companies in the private sector.

We stand at a pivotal moment in our Nation’s history and the choice of electing the Establishment candidates seems like a safe choice. However, the Establishment politicians have brought us to this moment. I can assure you, we are not the Establishment candidate and our goal is to dismantle the monstrosity that the Establishment has created.
